Call for Expression of Interest for PostDoc Researcher – Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Faculty of Engineering
The Faculty of Engineering at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano invites expressions of interest in view of the opening of new positions at the level of Assistant Researcher in Computer Science.
The Faculty expects candidates with significant accomplishments who are committed to reach further promising achievements in the areas Process Mining and Machine Learning. Successful candidates for the position will be expected to have a strong publication record and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
The Faculty of Engineering

The faculty can rely on an optimal infrastructure at its main research site at NOI Techpark, the science and technology park of South Tyrol that hosts 4 research institutes, 40 scientific laboratories, 40 companies and 30 start-ups.
In the 2023 Times Higher Education Engineering subject ranking the faculty ranked among the top 200 faculties worldwide and in the Computer Science subject ranking among the top 250.
About the position
The candidate is expected to work on a two-years project between the Faculty of Engineering and one of the leading companies in Process Mining. In particular, the candidate will develop algorithms for prescriptive process monitoring for saving resources in an industrial setting.
The candidate must have:
- a Ph.D. in computer science, mathematics or physics;
- less than 40 years old.
The ideal candidate should have:
- proficiency in scientific writing;
- proficiency with Machine Learning;
- proficiency in Python and with the main packages for scientific computation: Numpy, Sklearn, Matplotlib, Pandas;
- knowledge of a Deep Learning Framework, such as, Pytorch or Tensorflow;
- knowledge of Process Mining is appreciated but not required.
- good English writing and speaking skills.

Expressions of interest in English should include a CV (including a list of publications and a brief description highlighting the three most significant publications), a research statement, the names and addresses of at least two referees.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited online for a presentation and an interview.
